# A tour of Settings

What lives on each of the ten Settings pages, so you can find the one setting you came looking for.

Blabb's settings are split across ten pages. Most people visit two of them ever. This is the map,
so you can go straight to the one you want rather than opening each in turn.

## The ten pages

| Page | What lives there |
| --- | --- |
| **Set up dictation** | A checklist of the five things worth setting: microphone, shortcut, shortcut behavior, cleanup style, text entry. Each row shows what is set today and sends you to the page that changes it. It also replays the welcome tutorial. |
| **Voice input** | Which device Blabb listens to, automatic gain control, and the start and stop sounds. See [Voice input](/docs/configuration/voice-input/). |
| **Shortcut & text entry** | The dictation key, press-once or hold, and how the text is placed at your cursor. See [Shortcut and text entry](/docs/configuration/shortcut-and-text-entry/). |
| **Per-app settings** | A different text entry method for one app that misbehaves. See [Per-app settings](/docs/configuration/per-app-settings/). |
| **Writing style** | Language, specialist vocabulary, cleanup style, and the words you have taught Blabb to spell. See [Cleanup styles](/docs/cleanup-styles/overview/). |
| **General** | Start Blabb with Windows, and reset all settings. See [General](/docs/configuration/general/). |
| **Appearance** | How see-through the pill is, and the colour of the listening indicator. See [Appearance](/docs/configuration/appearance/). |
| **Privacy** | How long history is kept, crash reports, and deleting what Blabb holds. See [Privacy settings](/docs/configuration/privacy-settings/). |
| **Account** | Subscription status, plans, licence key, and the offline window. See [Subscription and plans](/docs/account/subscription-and-plans/). |
| **About** | Version, support, reporting AI content, the privacy policy, the licence agreement, and the open-source notices. |

## Set up dictation changes nothing itself

It is a checklist, not a control panel. Every row is a signpost — it shows the current value and
takes you to the page where that value is actually set. If you change something there, you changed
it on the page it sent you to.

That makes it a good first stop after installing, and a good place to check what you have got
without hunting. Setup progress at the top tells you how much of the list you have been through.

## What you will not find

There is no model picker, no processor setting, and no speed preset. Which speech model hears you,
which model tidies your words, and whether that work runs on your graphics card or your processor
are all decided by Blabb — chosen against the models it ships with, and packaged inside the app so
that nothing has to be downloaded or configured.

The lever you do have is the [cleanup style](/docs/cleanup-styles/overview/), and it is the one
that changes the result most.

## The two pages that change the most

If you only ever touch two, make them **Writing style** and **Shortcut & text entry**. The first
decides how much Blabb changes your words; the second decides how you start dictating and how the
text lands. Everything else is a preference.
