Picking a style automatically

Let Blabb choose a light cleanup style based on the app you are dictating into, without touching the setting yourself.

UPDATED 2026-07-28

If you dictate into a chat window and a document in the same ten minutes, you either change the cleanup style each time or accept the wrong one half the time. Auto-select per app is the third option.

Settings → Writing style → Auto-select per app. It is off out of the box.

What it does#

The app's own description: "Pick a light cleanup style based on the app you dictate into." When it is on, Blabb looks at where your text is going and chooses accordingly, without you touching the setting.

The important limit: only light styles are ever chosen for you. Tone-changing styles are never picked automatically. Blabb will not decide on its own that this message should sound more formal or more casual than you meant it to — if you want Professional or Friendly, you choose them yourself.

Who it suits#

Turn it on if you spend the day moving between apps that want different amounts of tidying, and you have caught yourself dictating into a chat box with a style meant for a report.

Leave it off if you know which style you want and want it applied consistently. That includes anyone using Original deliberately — for exact wording, dictated figures or quotations, a style that changes underneath you is not a convenience. It also includes anyone who has settled on one style and stopped thinking about it, which is most people after a week.

Not the same as Per-app settings#

Two similar-sounding features, doing different jobs:

SettingWhat it binds to an app
Auto-select per appWhich cleanup style tidies your words.
Per-app settingsWhich text entry method places the text at your cursor.

Per-app settings is the one you reach for when text lands badly in a particular app — arriving out of order, arriving in the wrong box, or not arriving at all. It has nothing to do with how your words are worded.
