Crash reports
Off unless you turn them on. What a crash report can contain, what it cannot, and how to change your mind.

Crash reports are off by default. Nothing is sent unless you switch them on yourself, and you can switch them off again at any time.
The setting is Settings → Privacy → Crash reports, described in the app as "Help fix problems without sharing voice or dictated text".
What a report contains#
The technical circumstances of a failure: what went wrong, where in the code it happened, and the version of Blabb it happened in. Enough for us to find the bug.
What it cannot contain#
- No voice. Audio never leaves your PC under any circumstances.
- No dictated text. Not the raw transcription, not the cleaned-up version.
Before a report is sent, sensitive strings are scrubbed out of it — file paths, email addresses and identifiers. That scrubbing runs over every part of the report, and if it fails for any reason the report is dropped rather than sent unscrubbed.
Why you might turn it on#
Blabb runs on your machine and nothing phones home, which is the point of it — and it also means a crash on your PC is invisible to us. If Blabb is falling over on your hardware, or in the one application you use every day, a crash report is how that reaches the people who can fix it.
If you would rather not, the setting exists so you do not have to, and there is no nagging.
Turning it off again#
Same switch: Settings → Privacy → Crash reports, off. It takes effect immediately, and nothing further is sent.
